Sunrise Sighting Report
as of May 29, 2003

I´m in the mid-west, mountain time. At about 4:30 AM [May 29], on a clear eastern horizon a large star/planet came up just ahead of the sun. Tomorrow morning take a look for yourselves. There is an object that has risen ahead of the sun. It is not as large or dramatic as the objct in the UCLA pics, but there is something there. It looks to be the size of a large star or planet. It may only be venus or something, but something is there! It´s about 5:30 AM now, and the sun is to bright to see the object any longer, but it is there! Is it Mars? Another planet rising ahead of the Sun? Does anyone know? If anyone has clear skys go out and take a look to the east. It´s about 25 degrees in the sky just ahead of the sun.

I just whent outside and snaped a few pictures of the object. An the sun has almost fully risen the sky is now fully blue, the sunlight is washing the object out. You can still see it but not as well in the light sky. It´s about 30 degrees up, right ahead of the sun. Make that 30 degrees up and about 20 degrees to the right of the sun. It is getting hard to see in the blue sky, now I´m having a hard time finding it and I´ve been following it!

I when to the web site you posted and I don´t think what I saw was on those charts. ... Just ahead and to the right of the sun, a large star/Venus looking object came up! It wasen´t red or anyting strange looking, it was just bright and definitely there.

I think i must be living on a different planet if that is Venus, as from where I am Venus is pretty small. That object is as big if not bigger than the moon.

Yes I definitely saw something as the sun went below the horizon [May 29]. It was not visible while the sun was above the horizon, as soon as the sun went below the horizon I could see a large white object in the sky for several minutes in the red glow of the setting sun. I suggest all in Melbourne look for yourself tonight.

I have been watching it both sunrise and sunset for a while now. Lilydale/Dandenong is the best place to watch it if you don't want to travel too far out of the city.
