I hope to be able to try to work on my winter DP> survival techniques this Dec. Since you used to live out in the real world , you are no doubt familiar with some of the basic winter rules... 1) Do not eat yellow snow. 2) Wear several layers of clothing so you can add or remove clothing as necessary. Exertion in very cold weather causes sweating. The sweat can freeze later, causing hypothermia. 3) Wool is a good insulator even when wet. 4) Alcohol increases your chances of frostbite. 5) Radial tires require the use of "cable chains" in snow rather than the old "chain" type.....Cable chains break easily, so carry spare links. 6) Putting sheets of newspaper on your windshield prevents icing up overnight...and gives you something to read in the morning while you try to figure out how to get them off if they have gotten wet and frozen. 7) A sheet of corrugated cardboard can be put over the front of your radiator to assist your engine in warming up more rapidly. Remove it as your engine comes up to operating temperature, however. John Mudge --- * Origin: -->point MUDGE bbs * V.32b * Shelton, WA USA<-- (1:352/111)
